  • Cardiopulmonary

  • Cardiologist

    A physician who specializes in disease of the heart and blood vessels. Physician who specializes in cardiology. A medical professional who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases is known as a cardiologist.  

  • Cardiograph machine

    A device that measures the actions of the heart and records the measurements on a cardiogram.  

  • Cardiogram

    A reading of heart and lung function obtained from a cardiograph machine. Electronic recording of the rhythm and changes in the heart. A recording of the heart’s beats obtained by placing a device on the chest wall.  

  • Cardiogenic

    Of cardiac origin. Originating in the heart. Resulting from activity or disease of the heart.  

  • Cardinal principles of education

    The seven principles established in 1918 by the Commission on the Reorganization of Secondary Schools. They are as follows: (a) health, (b) command of fundamental processes, (c) worthy’home membership, (d) vocation, (e) citizenship, (f) worthy use of leisure time, and (g) ethical character.  

  • Cardinal disposition

    An attribute so pervasive in a person’s makeup that it contributes to every action.

    Compression of the heart muscle caused by the accumulation of fluid within the pericardial sac. Pressure on the heart when the pericardial cavity fills with blood.
