  • Cholinesterase

    An enzyme that catalyzes breakdown of acetylcholine. An enzyme which breaks down a choline ester. A catalytic enzyme that hydrolyzes acetylcholine into choline and acetic acid; it is needed for transmission of nerve impulses of the parasympathetic nervous system.   • Cholinergic fibers

  • Cholic acid

    A family of steroids comprising the bile acids are derived from cholesterol. C24H40O6; an acid formed in the liver by hydrolysis of other bile acids. It is formed from the breakdown of cholesterol and helps to digest consumed fats.
