  • Cross-cousin marriage

    A cross-cousin is a child of one’s parent’s sibling of the opposite gender. There are two forms of ~s: (a) matrilateral cross-cousin wherein the male marries his mother’s brother’s daughter and (b) patrilateral cross-cousin marriage involves the male child marrying his father’s sister’s daughter.

    In education, an alternative way of defining and classifying individuals with learning and behavior disorders using descriptors of mild, moderate, and severe or profound multiple problems.

    In emergency communications, using VHF equipment to participate in the UHF band of radiofrequencies.

    The practice of growing different crops in regular succession to aid in the control of insects and diseases, to increase soil fertility, and to decrease erosion.

    Alpha coefficient.  

  • Critical thinking

    One’s ability to analyze situations critically. The ability to interpret argument, evidence, or raw information in a logical and unbiased fashion. A purposeful approach to problem solving that relies on flexibility, creativity, perspective, and communication to achieve desired outcomes. Critical thinking focuses on goals rather than processes or tasks.  

  • Critical ration

    In research, a standard score used for testing the null hypothesis is obtained by dividing an obtained mean difference by the standard error so that equals obtained mean difference per standard error.  

  • Critical period

    The stage in the development of a person when he or she is especially sensitive to certain environmental influences. Closely related to maturational readiness. The phase of the life cycle during which cells are responsive to certain regulators.

    That sequence of events and activities within a Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) network that requires the longest period of time to complete.
