  • Intracerebral hematoma

    Extravasation of blood within the brain substance. A hemorrhage localized in one area of the brain.  

  • Intracerebral

    Within the main portion of the brain, the cerebrum.    

  • Intracellular fluid

    Fluid found within the cell wall or membrane. Fluid, usually containing dissolved solutes, contained within cell membranes. The potassium-rich, sodium-poor watery solution inside cells. Approx. 55-75% of total body water is intracellular.  

  • Intracellular compartment

    The approximately 60% of body water that is contained within body cells, extracellular compartment. Body water compartment consisting of fluids within the cells.  

  • Intraamniotic infusion

    The injection of a substance into the amniotic sac to induce premature labor.  

  • Intoxication coma

    A deep state of unconsciousness caused by a drug from which the person cannot be aroused.  

  • Intoxicate

    To excite or stupefy by alcohol or a narcotic to the point where physical and mental control are markedly diminished. To make someone incapable of controlling his or her actions, because of the influence of alcohol on the nervous system.  

  • Intolerance

    An allergy or sensitivity to a subject. The adaptation of the body to a drug resulting in the need for a larger dosage to create the desired reaction.
