  • Ischial tuberosity

    A protuberance on the inferior surface of the ischium lateral to the anus and bearing weight when one is seated. A lump of bone forming the ring of the ischium. A palpable prominence on the inferior margin of the ischium that supports a person’s weight when sitting.  

  • Irresistible impulse

    An insanity plea following the commitment of a crime in some states. This is based on the concept that a person is not responsible for a crime committed when the act was precipitated by a psychotic condition that motivated the act and the person was unable to control his or her actions.
