    Effects that conflict with expectations. In pharmacology, effects that are the opposite of what a drug usually produce.

    Also Ebers Papyrus. Dates to 1550 B.C.; an Egyptian document containing descriptions of over 700 different drugs that were used at that time. Most of the descriptions were of drugs from botanical sources, but many were also of animal and mineral sources.
