  • Primary memory

    The retention of the image of an object that persists for a very brief period of time following its presentation, secondary memory.  

  • Primary level of health

    Health status measured in terms of wellness. Persons falling within this level are for all practical purposes healthy or well, intermediate level of health; secondary level of health.

    The early elementary school grades, generally grades kindergarten through grade 3 intermediate level.  

  • Primary labeling theory

    The belief that the assignment of labels is a causal factor in abnormal behavior.

    The production of antibodies 7-10 days after infection. The initial reaction to an immunogen, during which T and B lymphocytes are activated and antibodies specific to the antigen are produced. This reaction is considered relatively weak but produces large numbers of antigen-specific memory cells.

    A projected image, produced by the objective, that is further magnified by the eyepiece.

    A homosexual who has never responded to heteroerotic stimulation.

    Health care services provided to people who do not require hospitalization, secondary health care. Health care provided by a physician, nurse, or other health care professional in the first contact of the patient with the health care system.   • Primary group

    In sociology, the small, informal group with close, personal relationships between members.  

  • Primary grades health curriculum project (PGHCP)

    An integrated part of a larger curriculum being taught in the primary grades. It is a companion to the School Health Curriculum Project.
