  • Prospective research

    Research in which the predictor measure is assessed in advance of the outcome.  

  • Prospective pricing system

    A system of establishing in advance the reimbursement rates for health services. A sometimes translation of “PPS,” which is generally translated to mean “prospective payment system.” “Prospective pricing system” is, however, a more appropriate description of this payment system.  

  • Prosody

    The speech features of pitch, loudness, tempo, and rhythm. The normal rhythm, melody, and articulation of speech.

    Forms of behavior that involve understanding the needs and feelings of others, getting along with others, or functioning well in group situations.

    The sense of movement and body positioning; derived from an interaction of receptors in the organs, muscles, joints and the labyrinth of the ear proprioception.

    Pertaining to stimuli receptors that are located under the skin, such as in the muscles. Referring to sensory impulses from the joints, muscles and tendons, which relay information about body movements to the brain.
