  • Serous cavity

    A large lymph space. The space between two layers of serous membrane (for example, the pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal cavities). Any space enclosed by a fluid-secreting membrane, like the peritoneal and pleural cavities.  

  • Serosa

    Perimetrium layer of the uterus. A serous membrane (e.g., the peritoneum, pleura, and pericardium).  

  • Seropositive

    Producing a positive reaction to antibody tests for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Referring to someone who gives a positive reaction to a serological test. A blood test done for a possible infection that shows a positive result. Having a positive reaction to a serological test (i.e., showing the presence of a specific antigen or antibody).…

  • Serologic test

    Laboratory test made on serum.  

  • Serologic study

    A comparison of the serum of individuals.  

  • Sernyl

    An obsolete commercial preparation of phencyclidine (PCP).  

  • Seriation

    The process of arranging a series of objects in order of their value on a single dimension.  

  • Serial transmission

    The passing of information from one individual to another through a series of intermediaries. The transfer of a virus via a trial carrier, following a sole period of acquiring access, to consecutive and multiple trial flora.  

  • Serial position effect

    The tendency to remember items at the beginning and at the end of a long list better than those items in the middle of the list.  

  • Serial position curve

    A graph showing the ease of learning each item in a serial list, serial learning.
