Descending aorta
The second section of the aorta, which turns downwards.. Main part of the aorta that runs from the aortic arch into the trunk of the body, consists of the thoracic and abdominal aortas, and from which arteries supplying many parts of the body (e.g., esophagus, ribs, stomach) branch.

Descemet’s membrane
One of the deep layers of the cornea [Described 1785. After Jean Descemet (1732-1810), French physician; Professor of Anatomy and Surgery in Paris.] The elastic membrane that lines the inner surface of the cornea of the eye, next to the aqueous humor. An elastic layer deep in the corneal layers formed of endothelium.

Dermoid cyst
A cyst found under the skin, usually in the midline, containing hair, sweat glands and sebaceous glands. A cyst that is lined by skin. Dermoid
Referring to the skin. Like skin. A benign growth that resembles a cyst and can appear on the ovary is known as a dermoid cyst. It possesses characteristics similar to that of skin tissue.

Dermographia
A swelling on the skin produced by pressing with a blunt instrument, usually an allergic reaction. A local allergic reaction caused by pressure on the skin. People with such highly sensitive skin can write on it with a finger or blunt instrument, the pressure producing lasting weals.

A skin graft, replacing damaged skin by skin taken from another part of the body or from a donor. Replacement of damaged or destroyed skin by surgery. Transplantation of living skin to cover cutaneous defects caused by injury, operation, or disease. Cosmetic surgery involving the substitution of skin through grafts.

A collagen disease with a wasting inflammation of the skin and muscles.
