Mindblown: a blog about philosophy.

  • Dosage rate

The amount of radiation given per unit of time.

  • D-Max

The acronym representing the utmost level of denseness achievable in a photographic film. The pinnacle density is influenced by the quantity of silver present in the emulsion of the film and the particular developer employed throughout the processing stage.

  • Distribution transformer

An originating apparatus that allocates and preserves the kilovoltage and amperage (KVA) potential for every individual x-ray chamber autonomously. Each room possesses its distinct power supply, thereby ensuring uniformity in the density of each radiographic image.

  • Radiographic distortion

The distortion of an image, either elongation or contraction, deviating from its authentic form.

  • Display monitor

The visual display panel employed for showcasing the CT image differs from a television apparatus in that it typically lacks the built-in receiver enabling channel selection. Monitors are thus employed in closed circuit scenarios.

  • Radioactive disintegration

The temporal duration necessitated for the disintegration of radioactive constituents.

  • Electrical discharge

The process of eliminating an electric charge from a battery, capacitor, or any other device used for storing electric energy is commonly known as discharging.

  • CT disk

General term used for various types of magnetic recording disks used through-out the system. Specific types or uses are designated by a descriptive name such as system disk or floppy disk. Also see floppy disk.

  • Direct radiation

The radiation emitted directly from the X-ray tube is referred to as primary radiation.

  • CT directory

Within magnetic tape storage or magnetic discs, there exists a designated region known as the directory. The directory serves as a condensed or abbreviated compilation of the stored information, providing a convenient means of accessing and referencing the data. In CT equipment, users have the option to request the directory for display on the cathode…
