  • Focused grid

In the realm of radiographic imaging, a specialized grid is employed, featuring angled lead strips arranged in a manner that causes them to converge or focus towards a specific point located equidistant from the grid. This particular point coincides with the focusing spot of the x-ray tube.

  • Focusing cup

In conjunction with the filament, the focusing cup plays a crucial role in determining the size and shape of the target, also known as the focal spot, within an x-ray tube. This cup, made of molybdenum, is responsible for regulating the electron beam and ensuring precise focusing of the emitted x-rays.

  • Focus object distance

In the realm of radiography, there is a significant measurement known as the source-to-object distance (SOD). This measurement refers to the distance between the focal spot of the x-ray tube and the object undergoing radiographic examination.

  • Fluoroscopy chair

In the annals of medical history, there existed an antiquated chair constructed from lead. Positioned with its back towards the fluoroscopy screen, this peculiar chair was designed for a purpose that has now become obsolete. During examinations, the operator would straddle the seat, thus facing the patient directly.

  • Fluoroscopic timer

In the realm of electrical devices, one can find a manual timer designed for hand-setting purposes. Typically configured for a duration of five minutes, this timer serves the function of automatically discontinuing the flow of current once the specified time period has elapsed.

  • Fluoroscopic image

As the radiation traverses through the patient’s body, a diverse range of densities manifests on the fluoroscopic screen.

  • Fluoroscopic examination

In the realm of medical imaging, there exists a radiographic technique that employs a fluoroscope. This procedure serves the purpose of scrutinizing and capturing a lasting radiographic image on a film emulsion.

  • Fluorography

Fluoroscopy is a radiographic technique that involves capturing an image produced on a fluorescent screen and recording it as a radiographic image.

  • Floppy disk

A flexible vinyl disk, measuring around 8 inches in diameter, is utilized for magnetic recording of digital information. This disk serves as a storage medium for electronic CT images, providing an option for archival purposes.

  • Flat film

The term in question, when used to describe specific x-ray examinations of the abdomen, carries some controversy and may hold different meanings in various radiology offices. There is no universal consensus regarding whether the term is exclusive to prone, supine, or upright projections. Furthermore, there is no agreement on whether the routine involves anterior-posterior (AP)…
