  • Inductor generator

The a.c. generator described here is a unique configuration where the windings remain stationary while the flux linkages undergo variations through the rotation of a specifically designed toothed ferromagnetic rotor.

  • Inductive reactance

Due to the continuous variation of the magnetic field surrounding the wire coil in an alternating current (AC) system, a back electromotive force (emf) is induced. This back emf alternates its direction, resulting in inductive reactance, also known as bucking.

  • Induction motor

An alternating current (AC) motor designed with a primary winding, known as the stator, connected to the power source, while a secondary winding, referred to as the rotor, carries induced current. This specific motor configuration is employed for the rotation of the anode in rotating anode X-ray tubes.

  • Induction coil

The objective of this apparatus is to amplify voltages. It comprises two distinct conductor coils: a primary coil with a smaller number of turns, and a secondary coil with a significantly greater number of turns. Both coils are meticulously wound around an iron core and meticulously insulated from each other. This device is commonly known…

  • Therapeutic radiology implant

The process of placing radioactive material within a needle or another type of container and introducing it into the targeted region for therapeutic purposes.

  • Image intensifier tube

An evacuated electronic tube, possessing the ability to transform an incoming beam of X-ray energy into a visible light image of heightened luminosity, is utilized for this purpose. These tubes typically feature input screen diameters measuring six or nine inches.

  • Illuminator

A tool employed for the purpose of inspecting films is known as a film viewing apparatus. It can take the form of either a single-panel or multi-panel device.

  • Hysteresis loss

In an iron-core transformer, the occurrence of power loss is minimized to a great extent. Alternating current (A.C.) initiates the formation of magnetic domains within the iron core, first in one direction and then in the opposite direction. This rearrangement process generates heat within the core material. However, the utilization of silicon steel effectively mitigates…

  • Hyposulphite of soda

In order to effectively cleanse and stabilize the film emulsion, a supplementary substance can be incorporated into the fixer solution. Although it is not enumerated among the principal chemicals constituting the fixer solution, its inclusion aids in achieving optimal results.

  • Hounsfield units

In the realm of CT imaging, a particular range of CT numbers is established by considering water as the reference value zero, wherein air is assigned a value of -1000 units and dense bone is assigned a value of +1000 units.
