  • Shielding

When it comes to safeguarding against exposure, protective gear like lead aprons and gloves are utilized, offering a .5mm lead equivalent. In a diagnostic X-ray room, the control panel should be encased with a 1.5mm lead (1/16 inch thick) lining, reaching a height of seven feet. Additionally, an overlapping lead-glass window, featuring a 1.5mm lead…

  • Shell-type transformer

The primary and secondary coils, meticulously insulated from each other, are wound around a shared core.

  • Shadow shield

A gonad shield that can be easily affixed to any beam restrictor, intended for both male and female use. It can be conveniently stored away when not in use.

  • Service life

The duration for which a radiographic unit or any other device is capable of delivering specified performance under predetermined conditions of use.

  • Series circuit

An electrical circuit consisting of aligned component parts. Its notable features include constant amperage, voltage that either divides or varies, and the total resistance, which is the cumulative value of all resistors within the circuit.

  • Serialogram

A collection of radiographic exposures consolidated onto a single film.

  • Serial films

A sequence of radiographs that capture the gradual movement and distribution of contrast media, such as in the case of angiography.

  • Radiographic sensitometry

The correlation between the exposure factors and the processing conditions with respect to the response of the radiograph.

  • Electrical sensitivity

The electrical reaction that signifies the capacity of a circuit or device to effectively react to an input quantity.

  • Semierect film

A diagnostic image captured using the X-ray table positioned upright at an angle ranging approximately from 90° to 45°. This technique is commonly employed for imaging abdominal films, particularly in cases of bowel obstruction.
