Cord blood
The blood present in the umbilical vessels connecting the placenta to the fetus. Because cord blood is immunologically immature, it is especially useful in transfusion therapy and hematological transplantation.

Blood that has been exposed to oxygen in the lung.

Blomia tropicalis
The scientific name for a common house mite found in South and Central America. Allergens derived from this mite cause allergic reactions, including asthma and atopy. It is abbreviated blot by the World Health Organization.

A drug that prevents the normal action of a system or cell receptor.

Block design
A neuropsychological test involving the placement of wooden blocks according to three-dimensional drawings. The test assesses the presence of constructional apraxia, often exhibited in patients with brain lesions.

Lymphatic blockade
A local defense mechanism in which minute bits of material, such as fibrinous exudate from injured tissue, enter local lymphatic vessels, obstructing them and preventing foreign substances, especially bacteria, from passing through them.
