    Apparent lack of progress in a carious lesion between dental examinations.

    A 50-item scale specific to professionals caring for dependent patients. It is divided into three subscales measuring stress related to the patient’s verbal and physical behavior, the patient s mental, emotional, and social behavior, and the resources, knowledge, and abilities of the staff.  

  • Risk for caregiver role

    The vulnerability of the caregiver for difficulties felt in performing the role of family caregiver.  

  • Caregiver role strain

    A caregiver’s felt or exhibited difficulty in performing the family caregiver role.  

  • Caregiver burden

    The perception of stress and fatigue caused by the sustained effort required in caring for persons with chronic illness or other conditions with special needs for care.  

  • Tertiary medical care

    Medical care of a patient in a facility staffed and equipped to administer comprehensive care. In the usual situation, this level of care is provided in a large hospital to which the patient has been referred or transferred.  

  • Skilled care

    Medical care provided by licensed professionals working under the direction of a physician.  

  • Secondary medical care

    Medical care of a patient by a physician acting as a consultant. The provider of primary medical care usually refers the patient for expert or specialty consultation, or a second opinion.
