  • Adjuvant chemotherapy

    The giving of cytotoxic drugs to eradicate cancerous cells that may remain in the body after surgery or radiation therapy. The administration of medication following surgery to eliminate a maximum number of remaining cancer cells is referred to as postoperative drug treatment.  

  • Chemothalamectomy

    Chemical destruction of a part of the thalamus.  

  • Chemotaxin

    A substance released by bacteria, injured tissue, and white blood cells that stimulates the movement of neutrophils and other white blood cells to the injured area. Complement factors 3a (C3a) and 5a (C5a), cytokines, leukotrienes, prostaglandins, and fragments of fibrin and collagen are common chemotaxins.  

  • Chemosterilant

    A chemical that kills microorganisms.  

  • Chemosensory disorders

    Any disorder of smell or taste, e.g., anosmia or ageusia.  

  • Chemosensory

    To the sensory detection of a chemical, especially by odor.  

  • Chemosensitive

    Reacting to the action of a chemical or a change in chemical composition.  

  • Chemosenses

    Either of the two chemical senses of smell and taste.  

  • Chemoresistance

    The resistance of a cell or microorganism to the expected actions of drugs or chemicals.  

  • Chemoreflex

    Any involuntary response initiated by a chemical stimulus.
