  • Pianist’s cramp

    Spasm, or occupational neurosis, of muscles of fingers and forearms from piano playing. A work-related condition marked by painful muscle spasms in the fingers or hand.  

  • Occupational cramp

    A form of focal dystonia in which agonist and antagonist muscles contract at the same time. This can occur in writers, pianists, typists, and almost any occupation; they are not considered to have an emotional basis.  

  • Muscle cramp

    A painful, involuntary skeletal muscle contraction. This may occur at rest or during exercise, is asymmetrical, and usually affects the gastrocnemius muscle and small muscles of the foot.   • Artisan’s cramp

    A cramp of a hand muscle.  

  • Late-inspiratory crackle

    A discontinuous adventitious lung sound that is present in the latter half of inhalation.  

  • Fine crackle

    Soft, very short, high-pitched lung sounds. Fine, late-inspiratory crackles are often heard in pulmonary fibrosis and acute pulmonary edema.  

  • Coarse crackle

    Louder, rather long, low-pitched lung sounds. Coarse inspiratory and expiratory crackles indicate excessive airway secretion.  

  • Crackle

    An adventitious lung sound heard on auscultation of the chest, produced by air passing over retained airway secretions or the sudden opening of collapsed airways.     An infant exposed to crack cocaine in utero owing to the mother’s use of the drug during pregnancy.  

  • Coxiellosis

    Infection with Coxiella burnetii, a disease more commonly known as Q fever.
