Pharyngeal hypophysis
A small structure anterior to the pharyngeal bursa. It is derived from the lower portion of Rathke’s pouch and occasionally gives rise to a cyst or tumor.

The series of vessels that lead from the hypothalamus to the anterior lobe of the pituitary. The releasing hormones are carried to the pituitary through this system.
