  • Unilateral inattention

    An inability to recognize stimulation provided to the side of the body or the visual field damaged by a stroke in the nondominant hemisphere of the brain. Sometimes called visual inattention or visual unilateral inattention.  

  • Inassimilable

    Not capable of being used by the body for nutrition. Pertains to materials that the body cannot absorb or utilize as nourishment.  

  • Inappetence

    A lack of craving or desire, especially for food.  

  • Inactivate

    To render inactive, especially the alteration or destruction of an enzyme system or a biologically active agent such as a microorganism or antigen.  

  • Inaction

    Failure of or decreased response to a stimulus.  

  • Inaccuracy

    Inexactness as a result of measurement error.  

  • Imputed negligence

    The liability of the manager, owner, or leader of an enterprise for faulty behavior or injuries committed by his or her employees or subordinates.  

  • Impulsion

    A persistent psychic drive to act that is not relieved until the action is taken. Clear consciousness of the proposed act followed by an agonizing struggle, defeat, and sense of relief following the act are characteristics of impulsions, obsessions, and inhibitions.   • Proprioceptive impulse

    An afferent nerve impulse arising from stimuli originating in joints, muscles, tendons, or other sensory endings that respond to pressure or stretch.  

  • Inhibitory impulse

    A nerve signal that diminishes the activity of the target it acts upon.
