Lymphocyte activation
The use of an antigen (or mitogen in vitro) to stimulate lymphocyte metabolic activity.

Activated lymphocyte
A lymphocyte that has been stimulated by exposure to a specific antigen or by macrophage processing so that it is capable of responding to a foreign antigen by neutralizing or eliminating it.

Lymphocytapheresis
Removal of lymphocytes from the blood after it has been withdrawn. The blood is then returned to the donor.

Lymphoblastosis
An excessive number of lymphoblasts in the blood.

Lymphoblastomatosis
A condition produced by lymphoblastomas.

Lymph node basin
The collected lymph nodes into which lymph channels drain from a particular region of the body. Lesions on an arm, for example, drain into the axillary basin, while those on a leg drain into the groin. Similarly, prostate cancers drain into pelvic and periaortic basins.

Lymphedema praecox
Obstruction of the lymphatic channels, producing edema, which occurs primarily in women between the ages of 10 and 25; its cause is unknown.
