  • Heater probe

    A surgical instrument that is advanced through an endoscope and used to cauterize bleeding peptic ulcers. The probe applies thermal energy directly to the bleeding vessel, and works best when it is pressed forcefully onto the lesion.

    The health care administrator responsible for safeguarding patient confidentiality at a clinic or hospital. Under regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the privacy officer oversees institutional privacy policies, procedures, and rules.
