Orchidectomy

Surgery to remove one or both testicles.

Removal of the testes.

Surgical operation removal of a testicle.

Surgical removal of a testis, usually to treat such diseases as seminoma (a malignant tumor of the testis). Removal of both testes (castration) causes sterility.

Operation for the removal of one or both testicles, for example, because of cancer.

The surgical excision of either one or both testicles is referred to as orchidectomy. This procedure is conducted for reasons such as treating testicular cancer or gangrene resulting from torsion, as well as for diminishing the production of the male hormone testosterone in the context of prostate gland cancer therapy.

Taking out just a single testicle doesn’t impact sexual desire, virility, or the capability to father children.
