Mandibular anteroposterior ridge slope

Usually produced in an edentulous patient by resorption of alveolar bone of the lower jaw (mandible). This slope of the crest of the ridge from the third molar region to the greatest anterior aspect relative to the inferior border of the mandible as observed in profile is of particular significance for the design and fabrication of a lower prosthesis as it can affect movement of the denture in an anterior direction during normal occlusion and function.
