A picture of a breast made using a special X-ray technique.
X-ray film of the soft tissue of the breast.
An X ray of a woman’s breasts. The resulting breast X rays, or mammograms, can help a doctor to diagnose breast cancer. Doctors recommend a mammogram for women younger than age 40 years for specific reasons (helping to evaluate an abnormality) or if there is a strong family history of breast cancer. Women ages 40 to 50 years should have a mammogram done every 1 to 2 years. Women older than 50 years should have a mammogram annually.
A diagnostic x-ray (3) of the breast, usually for the purpose of detecting a tumor. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI) is being tried as a supplement or substitute for the mammogram.
A series of radiographic images captured from the anterior and lateral perspectives of the breast, employed for the purpose of diagnosing diverse abnormalities present within the breast tissue.
