Macaroon

A small round dry pastry made of almond paste, sugar and the white of an egg.

A type of chewy cookie that is commonly made with almond paste or ground almonds, combined with egg whites, sugar, and flavoring. In some cases, other nuts may be used as a substitute for almonds, while coconut is occasionally included in the recipe for a widely enjoyed variation.

Macaroons, delightful treats with a chewy texture, are created from a combination of sugar, egg whites, and a choice of shredded coconut, almond paste, or ground almonds. These delectable morsels are baked on rice paper, resulting in a delightful presentation. While small macaroons can be enjoyed as petits fours, their versatile nature allows the mixture to be utilized as a delectable filling for tarts. In Italy, almond macaroons, known as amaretti, have gained significant popularity, showcasing the beloved combination of almond flavor and delightful texture.
