Loss of taste

The loss of the sense of taste often stems from the loss of the sense of smell. The primary reason is inflammation within the nasal passages. Other contributing factors comprise conditions leading to a dry mouth, the gradual decline of taste buds with advancing age, harm to taste buds due to stomatitis (mouth inflammation), oral cancer, mouth radiotherapy, or impairment to the nerves transmitting taste sensations.
