A variation of muscular dystrophy, alternatively known as limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, which impacts the regions where the limbs connect with the body. Leyden-Mobius muscular dystrophy is not specific to a particular gender and generally manifests during childhood. This condition leads to muscular weakness and degeneration either in the pelvic girdle (pelvifemoral muscular dystrophy) or the shoulder girdle (scapulohumeral muscular dystrophy).
