Iron overload

Organ failure that results from excessive accumulation of iron in the body, usually as a result of frequent transfusions or hemochromatosis.

An unintended consequence that arises from repeated instances of transferring blood from one individual to another is the excessive buildup of iron within the body. This abnormal elevation in iron levels can lead to the formation of iron deposits within various organs, most notably the vital organ responsible for pumping blood throughout the body, namely the heart. Such iron deposits have the potential to inflict severe and potentially fatal harm.
