Interferon‐gamma (IFN‐γ)

One of a group of heat‐stable soluble basic antiviral glycoproteins of low molecular weight that are produced by T cells in response to either specific antigen or mitogenic stimulation. It regulates the immune response (e.g., by the activation of macrophages and natural killer cells) and is used in a form obtained from recombinant DNA technology in the control of infections and the treatment of neoplasias.
