Input measure

A measure of the quality of service based on the number, type, and resources used in the production of the services being measured. Health services are often evaluated by measuring the education and experience of the health provider the reputation and accreditation of the institution, the number of health personnel involved, and the amount of money spent for services, administration, and supplies. Input measures are generally recognized as inferior to process and outcome measures because they are indirect measures of quality and do not consider the actual results, or outcomes, of services. They are often used nonetheless because people are accustomed to their use, and they are easily obtained.
