Immunofluorescence assay

A blood examination occasionally employed as an alternative to Western blotting for confirming ELISA outcomes. In an IFA (Immunofluorescence Assay) test, an HIV antigen is combined with a fluorescent substance and subsequently combined with a sample of the patient’s blood. If HIV antibodies are detectable, the mixture will emit fluorescence when observed under ultraviolet light.
