Of unknown cause An idiopathic disease is one that develops for no apparent reason or cause. An example is essential hypertension, or high blood pressure for which no clear cause can be found. Even when the reason for a disease remains unknown, there may still be a recognizable pattern and progression of symptoms, and it may still be treated and cured.
Pertaining to illnesses whose cause is either uncertain or as yet undetermined.
“Iidiopathic” is the term used to describe a medical condition that has no known cause. With the advancement of science, causes for conditions once considered idiopathic may be discovered.
A term refers to a disease that emerges on its own without being linked to another known disease. As medical understanding progresses, causes for such diseases might be identified, at which point they no longer fall under the “idiopathic” classification.
