Hydroxyzine

An antihistamine medication primarily used in general medicine to treat dermatological conditions (e.g., itching) and cold or allergy symptoms. It may also be used in psychiatry to treat mild anxiety or to promote sleep, especially in children. Marketed under the brand name vistaril; may also be known by the discontinued brand name atarax.


Minor tranquilizer used to treat anxiety and motion sickness.


An antihistamine with many effects. Hydroxyzine hydrochloride (Atarax) and hydroxyzine pamoate (Vistaril) have antianxiety, sedative, fever reducing, and antinausea properties. Hydroxyzine is used to treat anxiety, tension, nervousness, nausea, vomiting, allergies, skin rash, hives, and itching. It is available in tablets, capsules, liquid, and by injection.


An antihistamine drug with sedative properties, used to relieve anxiety, tension, and agitation and to treat nausea and vomiting. It is administered by mouth and may cause drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, and itching.


This is a sedative antihistamine medication used primarily to alleviate itchiness, and on occasion, it is employed in the management of anxiety.
