Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)

Also called malignant hepatoma, is a primary malignancy (cancer) of the liver.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most prevalent form of primary liver cancer, originating from mature liver cells. It tends to develop in individuals with liver cirrhosis, particularly after being infected with hepatitis B or hepatitis C. The incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma is notably higher in tropical regions. Symptoms of this condition include hepatomegaly (enlarged liver), jaundice, and weight loss.
