Hemoglobin C disease

Hematological disorder characterized by anomalous hemoglobin, found in a minority of individuals within the African American population, ranging from 2 to 3 percent. An exclusive combination of dual genetic expression is required for the manifestation of anemia, with its severity differing among affected individuals. Clinical manifestations consist of recurring episodes of discomfort in the abdomen and joints, along with an enlarged spleen and a mild manifestation of yellowing of the skin, known as jaundice.
