Grieving

The normal emotional response to the loss of a valued relationship through death or dissolution, such as separation or divorce. Grief reactions vary markedly from person to person and may last anywhere from a few weeks to years, depending on the closeness and length of the relationship and the personality style of the grieving person.

A normal complex process that includes emotional, physical, spiritual, social, and intellectual responses and behaviors by which individuals, families, and communities incorporate an actual, anticipated, or perceived loss into their daily lives. This diagnosis was previously titled, “grieving, anticipatory”.
