Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor

A naturally occurring cytokine glycoprotein that stimulates the production of neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages. It is effective in treating bone marrow deficiency following cancer chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation.

Sargramostim, also recognized as a substance produced by immune system cells, serves as a potent stimulator for launching an assault against foreign cells. This remarkable substance finds application in the treatment of prostate cancers, where it is incorporated as a genetically engineered element within a vaccine. This unique vaccine prompts the body to mount an immune response against prostate tissue, aiming to combat the disease.
