General dental council

In the UK, the official body that registers and supervises dentists.


A statutory body which regulates dental professionals (including technicians, nurses and hygienists) in the UK. Its aims are to protect patients, promote confidence in professionals, and set standards of practice. Like other councils responsible for registering health professionals, the General Dental Council now comes under the umbrella of the Council for Health Regulation and Excellence (CHRE).
