Frohlich’s syndrome

A disease of the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland occurring during adolescence, resulting in obesity and arrested development of the sex glands.


A condition in which someone becomes obese and the genital system does not develop, caused by an adenoma of the pituitary gland.


A disorder of the hypothalamus (part of the brain) affecting males: the boy is overweight with sexual development absent and disturbances of sleep and appetite.


A condition in children characterized by obesity, physical sluggishness, and retarded sexual development. It is the result of disturbed pituitary gland function.


A condition characterized by obesity and sexual infantilism, atrophy or hypoplasia of the gonads, and altered secondary sex characteristics. It is caused by disturbance of the hypothalamus and hypophysis, usually secondary to a neoplasm.
