Frequency distribution

The pattern formed by a group of measurements of the same kind of units when the measurements are arranged according to how many times each event occurs.

In statistics and epidemiology, an efficient method of presenting large numbers of data by grouping them into several categories.

Presentation of the characteristics (variables) of a series of individuals (e.g. their heights, weights, or blood pressures) in tabular form or as a histogram so as to indicate the proportion of the series that have different measurements. In a normal or Gaussian distribution the number of readings and their range on either side of the mean value is symmetrical; in a skewed distribution (e.g. Poisson) the measurements are bunched on one side of the mean and spread out over a wider range on the other.

In statistics, the assignment of continuous data points into arbitrarily chosen, mathematically useful clusters; a list of the number of times different ranges of values appear in a given data set. When a frequency distribution is graphed, it forms a histogram.
