The process of blending ingredients by means of slicing downwards into the mixture with a spoon or fork at one edge of the container, twisting the utensil across the bottom, and bringing it upwards and over the top, directly underneath the surface, is referred to as folding. This technique is conducted gradually, evenly, and with a light touch, until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
