In public health, a place where health care is provided.
Commonly used to refer to an institution organized to provide ambulatory, inpatient, residential, or other health care. However, the term is actually applied to a varied mixture of things: physical facilities (for example, long-term care facility, urgent care center), activities (support groups, health fairs), types of care (such as assisted living), equipment (CT scanner), and other hospital attributes or health care services.
