Eyeball

The round ball of tissue through which light passes, located in the eye socket and controlled by various muscles.

The body of the eye, which is roughly spherical, is bounded by the sclera, and lies in the orbit. It is closely associated with accessory structures, i.e. the eyelids, conjunctiva, and lacrimal (tear-producing) apparatus, and its movements are controlled by three pairs of extrinsic eye muscles.

The globe of the eye. Tension and position of the globe in relation to the orbit should be noted.
