Excessive thirst

An abnormally increased desire or need for water or other drink. A person who becomes dehydrated due to exercise or illness may experience excessive thirst. Excessive thirst, along with increased urination, is a common initial symptom of diabetes mellitus.

An intense and enduring urge to consume liquids, typically stemming from dehydration. Additional potential factors encompass untreated diabetes mellitus and diabetes insipidus, kidney dysfunction, administration of specific medications like phenothiazine drugs, and substantial blood loss. Irregular or excessive thirst could also be attributed to a psychological state termed psychogenic polydipsia.
