Erythrocytosis

An increase in the number of red blood cells in the blood.


Any abnormal increase in the numbers of red blood cells, but to a lower extent and due to many different conditions (e.g., emphysema, cigarette smoking, living at altitude).


Abnormally increased amount of red blood cells in circulation; associated with hypoxemia and polycythemia vera.


An abnormal increase in the number of red blood cells in circulation, found, for example, in hypoxemic patients or patients with polycythemia vera.


An excessive rise in the quantity of red blood cells within the bloodstream.
