Elderflower

The flower of the elder tree or elderberry bush. Used medicinally or in cooking. Available at health food stores. Elderflower also known as Sambucus niger.

Elderberries have long been used to make excellent wines and preserves. Honey-scented flowers make delightful fritters and refreshing summer drinks. Elderflower water is commonly used in cosmetic eye and skin lotions, face packs and facial steam.

The blossoms of the elder tree may occasionally be utilized in the creation of wine. When infused, they offer a subtle and delicate flavor profile. Additionally, they can be utilized as a flavoring agent in preserves such as rhubarb jam, imparting a taste akin to that of muscat grapes.
