Drain

A tube to remove liquid from the body.


Tube inserted into a body cavity, sometimes during surgery, to remove unwanted material.


A device, usually a tube or wick, used to draw fluid from an internal body cavity to the surface. A drain is sometimes inserted during an operation to ensure that any fluid formed immediately passes to the surface, so preventing an accumulation that may become infected or cause pressure in the operation site.


An exit hole or a tube in a body space, used to evacuate unwanted blood, cellular debris, fluids, or pus.


The act of eliminating excess moisture from an object or substance by permitting it to trickle away.


A surgical tube or device employed to remove fluid from an area operated upon.
