Dover’s powder

A compound made up of 10% opium and ipecacuanha, occasionally used for pain relief but more often mixed with aspirin to trigger intense night sweats as a treatment for a cold. It’s named after Dr. Thomas Dover, a 17th-century English doctor known for rescuing Alexander Selkirk, the real-life inspiration for Robinson Crusoe, from Juan Fernandez Island.
