Dermographism, or factitious URTICARIA, refers to transient erythema and wealing caused by trauma to the skin.
A form of urticaria (hives) in which a pale raised wheal and red flare are produced on the skin when it is gently stroked or scratched.
Dermographism is a condition characterized by an exaggerated sensitivity of the skin to mechanical irritation, wherein even gentle stroking can induce the formation of itchy welts. This condition belongs to the family of urticaria, commonly known as nettle rash. It predominantly affects individuals with fair skin who possess a predisposition to allergic conditions.
